1. What bikes does it support?

All Triumph Fuel Injected bikes from the first Sagem ECU bikes to the latest Keihin ECU bikes. (We don’t support the 400cc bikes or motocross as these have a different ECU)

2. How does it connect?

All Triumph EFI bikes are fitted with an industry standard, 16 pin ‘OBD’ or ‘diagnostic’ connector. Simply plug your Dealertool interface lead into this connector and plug the other end into your PC’s USB A port. (note some of the latest bikes from approx. 2023, now have a red square 6pin diagnostic connector, which we now support, although you will need to purchase an adapter cable too, which we also sell).

The diagnostic connector is located under the seat on most models, although the Sprint 1050 and Trophy has it’s connector in the front, right hand side storage compartment. Some models have it under the side panel too.

3. What does it do?

You have, in one simple to use package, a powerful tool that gives you dealer functions in an easy to use format. With DealerTool you can:

4. Throttle Balance – How?

Many are confused on how we can check the balance of the throttles without vacuum gauges!

DealerTool gives you a graphical display of each cylinders inlet manifold pressures. You can check the balance of the bikes throttle bodies without even picking up a screwdriver!

If they need adjusting you still need to turn the adjusting screws on the throttle bodies, but you can quickly check them without the need for expensive balance gauges as DealerTool has this function built in at no extra cost!

Note: this function is not available on the older models with Sagem ECU’s.  Also the Speed Four and Daytona 600 & 650 models do not support throttle balance. This is a limitation of the EFI system not DealerTool. And models with only one Throttle body, cannot be balanced either.

5. Can I Reprogram / Remap my ECU?

No, this would invalidate your warranty and can cause engine damage if you are not extremely careful. DealerTool can still be used to diagnose the system alongside a ‘Power Commander’ or similar device. Most of our customers are not interested in messing with and reprogramming/remapping their bikes, but do want to be able to maintain them properly and service them at home. Safety critical systems on new bikes with Ride-by-wire and traction control may be affected if you reprogram the ECU by other means.

DealerTool can be used with total confidence as it cannot damage the ECU content.

6. Can I use it on more than one bike?

Yes. When you buy DealerTool, a 1 bike software key is included. You can buy additional keys to allow use on more bikes at £29.99 each. If you want to use on many bikes you can upgrade at any time to the unrestricted version and just pay the difference- see below.

The first time DealerTool is connected to a bike you must click on the ‘ECU Data’ from the main page in your software. The 30 digit information that then shows, must be emailed to keyreg@dealertool.co.uk and a Registration key will be sent back to you by return. (this usually takes only a couple of hours, but please allow 24hrs as we are not always able to respond immediately especially across different time zones)

Simply add this registration key into the software and the software will remember it, unlocking the full use of DealerTool for your bike.

7. What type of computer do I need?

A desktop PC or Laptop, running, Microsoft Windows 8 onwards (64 bit only)

You need 1 spare USB A port (or 2 USB A ports for the unrestricted version) The interface cable is approx. 1.5m long so you may require a USB extension lead if you cannot get your PC next to your bike. (USB extensions are not recommended to be extended by more than 5 meters, although it often works fine longer than this)

MAC? Customer feedback suggests that DealerTool will run on a MAC using “bootcamp” or “parallels” – but we have no knowledge on MACs and are unable to offer support on this.

*Note: Only our v2.5, v2.6, v3.0 or v3.1 interfaces support Win8, 10 or 11 and our latest software version is v6.60b.

Our newer v3.0 & v3.1 cables work with 64bit Win10 & 11 without the driver issues of earlier types.

(Please email us if you need to upgrade your old cable if you are moving to a new Win10/11 PC and you find your old cable no longer works.)

8. Is my warranty invalidated?

No, your warranty is unaffected and you cannot harm or corrupt your ECU by using DealerTool.

DealerTool connects and works exactly like the tool they use at your dealer.

Your dealer will also not be able to tell that you have used DealerTool on your bike.

9. Can I use this software with an interface I already have?

No, The DealerTool interface is modified from those that you can buy on the internet so only the cables we sell, will work with our software.

Several, cheap, generic ‘OBD’ scantools are available on the ‘net’, but they do not have the same level of functionality as DealerTool. They are not all user friendly, and will not give you same access to all the information your ECU has, or allow you to perform the important system test routines, like brake bleed functions or ECU adjustments & Generic OBD tools cannot access the manufacturer specific data that DealerTool does.

DealerTool is the only unit on the market to support all Triumph models (apart from motocross & 400 models) in one package and allow service light reset (most models) and ABS diagnostics.

10. I service many bikes. Can I buy DealerTool to use on bikes without having to buy a bike specific key each time?

Yes. DealerTool offers an option for bike dealers, workshops or individuals, to purchase an unrestricted kit so that individual bike keys are not required. You can also upgrade if you’ve already purchased the standard version just by paying the difference between kit prices. If you want to upgrade please contact us via our “contact page” or sales@dealertool.co.uk email

11. Does it work on a MAC?

It’s Windows software. People do use it on a MAC with’ Bootcamp’ or ‘Parallels’ but we have no knowledge on MACs and are unable to offer support on this.

12. Can I programme new keys?

No.. We think this undermined the safety of bikes, if this feature is available to the public so we will never support this feature.. You will need to visit a dealer for this.

13. Why does my Service Wrench not clear once I’ve run the reset in the software?

First, check your bike is supported with the service reset. The Trident, new 2022+ Tiger 660 & 1200 models, 2022+ Speed Triple & 24 Scrambler 1200 X do not support the service reset. The Motocross or 400 models are not supported at all, with dealertool.

For your service to clear, you need to have 3 things matched correctly between the bike and your pc.

  1. The date must match BUT both be in the same format, so MM/DD/YYYY or
    MM/DD/YY
  2. The time must match to the minute BUT both be in the same format, so 12 or 24hr format
  3. The mileage values in the software must match your bikes clocks, So MPH or KPH.

Once these 3 match, the service should clear.

If you are using an old software version, it may not clear too so please make sure you are using the 6.57b or latest 6.60b software version if you are able to.
